On September 9, the opening ceremony of the new academic year was held at the Tashkent campus of MGIMO.

 The Ambassador of Russia to Uzbekistan O.S. Malginov, the Rector of MGIMO, Academician A.V. Torkunov, the Director of the Tashkent branch A.A. Abduvakhitov addressed the lyceum students and first-year students of MGIMO. The speakers emphasized the unique nature of the Russian campus in friendly Uzbekistan, spoke about the traditions of brotherhood and solidarity of MGIMO students and graduates, the quality and features of Russian education.

Now there are more than half a thousand students at MGIMO-Tashkent, more than one hundred and fifty of whom are lyceum students, including those who are mastering the program of secondary general education according to the network program. This year, for seventy-five graduates of the Lyceum on the basis of the Tashkent campus of MGIMO, for the third time, an Exam Reception Point will be opened for the state final certification in the format of a final essay, and then a unified state exam. 

The opening of the Exam Reception Point became possible due to the implementation of the strategic project of MGIMO "Russian Schools Abroad" as part of the state program to support universities "Priority 2030". The project also provides preparations for passing the final certification. According to the results graduates of the MGIMO Lyceum will receive a Russian certificate of secondary general education in addition to the Uzbek document on education.
