In 2022, the MGIMO development programme, implemented, in particular, through the Russian Schools Abroad strategic project, pays special attention is paid to professional development of the staff of the University's structural divisions, that is, teachers from Gorchakov Lyceum who work actively with MGIMO's partner schools within the framework of the RSA project.
On June 24, 2022 the first of two professional development courses "Tutor's Role in Educational Organization: Content, Structure and Working Formats" was finished. It was planned for the Lyceum teachers by the team of experts of the Interfaculty Department of Educational Systems and Pedagogical Technologies of MGIMO Odintsovo branch. The professional development certificates were awarded to 27 people.
Teachers' tutor competence is the urgency of the new times. Everyone has a potential, it is important to be able to discern a person and create conditions for him/her to succeed.
What is the role of a tutor? How do you help a tutor? How do you make time for more than one tutor? How do you prioritise and help a tutor build their individual educational route? What is a group tutorial? How to prepare and conduct an educational event? These are just some of the topics uncovered for course participants by the Department's experts in partnership with Antonina Bolotova, Head of the New School tutoring service and Alexei Golubitsky, Director of the School of the Future.
People create the environment. A learning process full of meaning, content and attention to a child is possible with the involvement of meaningful adults seeking self-development and reflection on their own experience. "If we ourselves learn to be aware of our own self-motivation mechanisms, then we can pass this on to children", says Anastasia Kuzmina, Deputy principal of the Lyceum, participant of the Lyceum teacher professional development programme and author of the course “The role of a tutor in an educational organisation: content, structure and work formats”. That's why the teachers' team of the Lyceum got the second course of the professional development programme 'Active Learning Strategies'.
Following the teachers from the Lyceum, the course will be organised for college teachers working with older students of the MGIMO ecosystem.
The course is scheduled for October-November 2022.
